MTPC will be piloting a virtual studio service for producing web video programs. A virtual studio is a type of television studio featuring a background that can be manipulated in real time. It enables interaction of people or objects with computer-generated 3D spaces, which can be a pre-built digital template or custom-built HKUST virtual scene. Unlike chromakey technology, virtual studio sets can be shot in multiple angles using cameras from different points of view. It also supports picture-in-picture and various video effects. Virtual studio programs don’t require much post-production, and they are also much faster and cheaper to set up than a physical studio setup. MTPC eStore is purpose-designed for the HKUST community, carrying products that are made-to-order or printed-on-demand in small quantities. They are popular items that are frequently requested by users and are customizable for different events and occasions.

The store’s first batch of products includes publications, souvenir, stationery, paper craft and gift items. Most products are specifically designed and produced in-house using digital cutting, laser engraving, 3D printing, UV printing or coating on different materials and shapes. All are welcome to visit Printshop to see the samples hands-on and place orders for your own products.

The HKUST Photo Gallery, maintained by MTPC, has also been revamped recently. Major new features include a native responsive mode for viewing on mobile devices, a redesigned layout with extended page width, a new mouse-wheel scrolling feature for easier photo browsing, and album views with new visual effects. It also now supports enhanced “Access Code” photo viewing and downloads.
